Project showcase: challenges and solutions

Below is a selection of projects of which we are particularly proud.
Purpose built food manufacturing factory unit.
Dorchester Developments were one of the first companies in the West Midlands to design and build a M.A.F.F approved food manufacturing unit. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food had strict and exacting specifications.
Liaising with the client, building regulations officer, environmental health officer and M.A.F.F office we were able to design flow charts and interior finishes in order to conform with new regulations.
Being one of the first buildings to meet such high standards in the area the unit was then opened by the Agriculture Minister Mr Nicolas Soames.
Joint venture building project.
We were approached by a client who already owned land in which he wanted to build an industrial unit.
Working closely with our client we were able to agree a design and build project which allowed the client to carry out some of the construction himself. This allowed us to guide him on the construction process as well as using our expertise in other areas of the build.
Once the building was completed we found a tenant for the property giving our client a valuable investment.
Restaurant development project:
The brief for this project was to design and develop a garden centre restaurant given only the shell of the building.
One of the most important aspects of this project to the client was producing a practical modern and functional counter area.
We had to work closely with the client to design and build a counter servery area. This had to incorporate machinery as well as being user friendly and appealing from a customer point of view. A modern, well equipped kitchen had to be installed meeting the latest fire and health & safety regulations.
The results produced a well equipped, light and contemporary space. Making the restaurant a modern eating place for customers as well as a practical and workable space for the staff.
